VietNamNet Bridge – The mini-submarine named Truong Sa of a businessman in Thai binh Province was tested at sea on May 30, after the successful trials in a tank and a lake. However the test had to stop because the propeller was broken.
The test began at 2.15pm at the Diem Dien Port in Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh Province.
Two fishing boats escorted the submarine to the estuary.
The
submarine is coated with a layer of glossy black paint. Its name – Truong Sa
01 – is on the side. The national flag is drawn on the cabin and the
side doors.
The submarine was controlled by businessman Nguyen Quoc Hoa.
The submarine ran well on the sea. This trial attracted the attention of the local authorities.
The submarine began to dive.
Previously, the submarine was successfully tested in a tank and a lake.
In this test, the submarine used the new gas recirculation system and was equipped with a new radar.
However,
due to high winds and waves and problems during the transportation of
the submarine, the rudder and propeller were damaged so the trial was
stopped in the middle.
The submarine has a length of 9 m, a
height of 3 m, equipped with two 90 Hp diesel engines, operated by an
air-independent propulsion system (AIP). Maximum design speed is 40
km/h, 800 km radius of operation, dive time of 15 hours, and maximum
diving depth of 50 m.
It is manufactured by Mr. Hoa, the director of a print company in Thai Binh.
