Under the program, over 18,000 volunteers from universities in HCM City were divided into 500 groups to be in duty at schools, bus and railways stations and ports to assist candidates from many provinces who went to HCM City for the exams.

As a result, this far-reaching program benefited candidates and parents on 180,165 occasions. Specifically, the program recommended rooms for rent for 37,725 candidates and provided 5,408 others with free board.

The volunteers also distributed 200,000 leaflets and 380,000 maps of the city and bus routes as well as 60,000 free bus tickets and 35,000 vouchers for free meals and 25,000 vouchers for free bread.

VietJet Air alone offered candidates with 10,000 caps, 10,000 T-shirts, and many other gifts worth VND1 billion ($50,000).

VietJet Air’s representatives also appeared at stations and schools to encourage volunteers to assist candidates to the best of their ability.

“VietJet is extremely proud to assist the University Entrance Exam Supporter program, which is such a meaningful initiative for the community. Students are the future of this amazing country and we are delighted that we can be of assistance to them,” said Mr. Desmond Lin – Business Development Manager of VietJet Air.

“This program is also an extremely worthwhile activity for volunteers. Participating students learned the importance of team work, cooperation and sharing responsibilities amongst a group. I saw first-hand how volunteers provided invaluable assistance to university candidates and their accompanying parents, many of whom had never been to HCM City before and are understandably daunted at the prospect of getting from A to B,” Lin said.

VietJet has participated in many other Corporate Social Responsibility programs aimed at providing assistance to Vietnamese students.

Earlier this year, the airline teamed up with PepsiCo to help students to go home for the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday by providing them with free air tickets. As an additional bonus, the students were amongst the first passengers in the country to ever fly on an A320 jet with Sharklet wingtips, a revolutionary fuel-saving design created by Airbus. VietJet and PepsiCo are eager to join forces on a similar initiative the nextTetholiday.

VietJet Air previously joined 1,000 Youth Union members and students in Hanoi to launch a project aimed at improving Vietnamese people’s physical conditions.
