The Guidelines on Developing Core Competencies in Competition Policy
and Law for ASEAN (the RCC guidelines) were officially launched at the
11th Meeting of the ASEAN Experts Group on Competition (AEGC) in
Manila, the Philippines recently.
The RCC Guidelines focus on three key competency areas, including institutional building, enforcement and advocacy.
This was one of the initiatives in support of the ASEAN Economic
Community (AEC) building under the AEGC medium-term work plan 2011-2012.
The development of the RCC Guidelines is led by the AEGC’s Working
Group on Developing RCC (WG-RCC) with the support of the ASEAN
Secretariat and the German International Cooperation (GIZ).
The Guidelines, based on ASEAN member states’ experience and
internationally-recommended practices, are for use by staff of
competition-related agencies in these states in developing and
strengthening their required core competencies.-VNA
