The southern coastal province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau attracted
more than 6.4 million tourists in the first six months of 2013, up 10.75
percent over the same period of 2012.
The figure
included 248,095 foreign visitors. Total tourism revenues reached 1.48
trillion VND, an increase of 17.9 percent over the same period of 2012.
The result can be attributed to considerable efforts
Ba Ria – Vung Tau province has made to promote local destinations and
improve tourism environment.
According to Nguyen
Van Son, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture,
Sports and Tourism, the first phase of Ho Tram Strip tourist complex
will be open to visitors at the end of July, which is expected to draw
more visitors to the province.
The department also plans
to organise workshops to find solutions to attract Japanese tourists
and launch a contest to design the province’s typical souvenirs. More
tourism promotion publications will be published in Vietnamese, English
and Japanese languages .-VNA
