MST Minister Chu Ngoc Anh said that information technology and biological technology will be the two main aspects of the V-KIST.
He expressed his hope that the institute will become a leading multi-sector organisation in scientific research and technology development and application to serve Vietnam’s industries.
It will also help enhance the country’s scientific and technological potential, increase businesses’ competitiveness and contribute to economic development, he added.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam showed his belief that the V-KIST will overcome all difficulties and grow strongly, contributing to scientific research as well as scientific and technological reform in Vietnam, and intensifying the Vietnam-Republic of Korea strategic cooperative partnership.
The launch of the institute is of significance as it took place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties, he stated.
RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Lee Hyuk affirmed that the V-KIST is the biggest non-refundable aid project of his country.
At the launch ceremony, the institute signed a cooperation agreement with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology and memoranda of understanding on cooperation with the Hanoi National University, Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel) and Traphaco Joint Stock Company.-VNA
