The significant role of intellectual property in the country’s
socio-economic development was highlighted at a seminar in Hanoi on
May 7.
At the seminar, domestic and foreign experts
from Canada, Kenya and the World Intellectual Property
Organisation (WIPO) discussed the building and implementation of a
national intellectual property programme.
The
participants stressed the need to identify goals, establish a
national-level cooperation mechanism, as well as evaluate human
resources as well as competitive edges of each country.
The programme aims to map out a plan on innovation cooperation, the
possession and exploitation of research outcomes, initiatives and new
technologies, they said.
Vietnam’s draft programme
has been devised with the support of the WIPO, focusing on the
enhancement of intellectual property policies and frameworks, raising
public awareness of brands, copyright and other intellectual property
rights.
The programme also aims to improve capacity to enforce the intellectual property rights of those concerned.-VNA
