The Republic of Korea (RoK) is willing to share its experience in
nuclear power development with Vietnam and provide solutions for the
successful management of nuclear power plants in the country.

The commitment was clarified during a conference on nuclear
cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK held in Hanoi on September 9, as
part of activities on the occasion of President Park Geun-hye’s visit
to the Southeast Asian country.

The conference,
organised by the RoK Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) in
association with the Korean Electricity Power Corporation (KEPCO),
included an exhibition on the outlook of the Vietnamese nuclear industry
and complex conferences on localisation and human resources training
for the sector.

Addressing the event, MOTIE
Minister Yoon Sang-jick expressed his belief in further energy
cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK, pledging that the RoK will
provide proactive and comprehensive support for Vietnam to help the
country set up self-reliant advanced technologies.

Delegates exchanged views on a range of important issues such as each
country’s nuclear policies, the RoK’s nuclear power, preliminary
feasibility studies; equipment maintance, and human resources
development.

Nuclear power is an environmentally friendly energy, essential for green growth.

The RoK now ranks fifth in the world in nuclear power with its capacity of 20,716 MW.-VNA
