Vietnam lost to Qatar 18-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-25 to finish 10th in the 2017 Asian Men’s Senior Volleyball Championship at Surabaya, Indonesia, on July 31.

Young Ahmed Gamal Adnan played a key role in Qatar’s comfortable victory.
Qatar had defeated Vietnam in Pool G of the classification round as well. They also beat Pakistan in the 9-12th placement matches.
Earlier, Vietnam had defeated their Southeast Asian (SEA) Games rival Thailand in five sets 25-19, 25-16, 21-25, 16-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, in the semi-finals, Japan crushed hosts Indonesia 3-0, and Kazakhstan bested South Korea 3-2.
This is the second time that Indonesia are hosting this tournament; they hosted it previously in 2007. The championship has 16 teams competing to become the Asian champions.
