Uzbek U23s and Palestine’s Olympic team arrive in Hanoi for int’l tournament

Uzbekistan are the last of the visiting teams to arrive in Hanoi.  The Palestinian and Omani Olympic football teams arrived in Hanoi earlier in the day.

The squad are confident of their chances as they are the reigning U23 Asian Cup champions following their 2-1 defeat of a brave Vietnam after extra-time.

The team, sporting casual team wear, are surrounded by security forces.

The U23 Uzbekistan team will have only one day of training before playing in the tournament.

According to the team’s representative, the U23 Uzbekistani Olympic football team believe that they are good enough to beat U23 Vietnam again in their upcoming match.

Palestine’s Olympic football team landed in Hanoi on August 1 as they prepare to play in the international football championship.

Twenty Palestinian footballers will play in the tournament, most of them having played in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Championships earlier this year.

In the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018, Palestine are in Group A with the host Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China) and Laos.

The Palestinian players are eager to arrive in Vietnam.

Their aim for the tournament is to build up playing experience ahead of the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018.

The Palestine squad are at peak physical fitness and highly disciplined.

Islam Masharqa, head of the Palestine delegation said they were happy to visit Vietnam and hope to have a good time in the beautiful country. He also wished the greatest success for the international football championship.

The Palestine team will play Vietnam’s Olympic team at 7:30pm on August 3 at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi.
