VietNamNet Bridge – A 28-year-old woman in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, on the night of March 17 gave birth to five babies by Cesarian at the Tu Du Hospital. This is a rare case of multiple pregnancies, using the measure of injecting sperm into the uterus.
The mother was admitted to hospital on the evening of March 17 in the state of labor at the 34th week of pregnancy. After examination, the doctors decided to use Cesarian surgery.
Three baby boys and two baby girls were born in turn, weighing 2 kg – 1.5 kg – 1.8 kg and 2 babies of 1.3 kg each. The babies are now monitored at the Tu Du Hospital’s neonatal health stability ward.
Two years ago, using the egg stimulating method, Mrs. Le Thi Viet Trinh from the southern province of An Giang had multiple pregnancies. She gave birth to four babies, including a boy of 1.7 kg and three girls of 1,2 kg, 1.1 kg and 1.6 kg. At present, the boy weighs 9.4 kg, the second girl is 7.4 kg, third baby 8 kg and the fourth baby 8.2 kg.
In June 2012, also at the Tu Du Hospital, Mrs. Tran Thi Tinh from Dong Thap Province gave birth to four babies, weighing 1.5 kg, 1.2 kg, 1.6 kg and 1.7 kg. The four babies are now healthy. This is a rare case of multiple pregnancies because Tinh did not use any artificial method.
According to the specialist, it is not strange to have multiple pregnancies if the vitro fertilization and egg stimulating methods are used. To avoid this situation, when women have signs of pregnancy, they must be examined regularly. In case of detection of multiple pregnancies, the doctor can eliminate fetuses at the 7-8th week of pregnancy. If it is detected later (after the 11th week), the intervention will be very difficult.
