VietNamNet Bridge – About 1,800 state employees will be trained overseas by funding from the state budget in the period of 2013-2020.
On April 17, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved the project on overseas training for state employees in 2013-2020. Accordingly, about 1,650 university lecturers, officers, public servants and government employees who are working in scientific and technological research institutions will be sent abroad to get master degrees.
Some 150 high-school students who win international Olympic prizes and talented students will be also sent overseas for higher education.
Priority will be given to those who work in the areas of basic science, engineering, economics, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, environment, public governance, especially the fields that Vietnam is unable to train, the specific areas and the fields of high demand.
The host countries will be the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, USA, Australia, Japan, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, Korea and China. Funding for the project is approximately VND2.07 trillion ($100 million).
