The Department of Education and Training in HCM City has submitted a list of 201 pupils that have violated the traffic regulations in August and September.
Pupils at Trung Vuong High School learn about traffic safety
Most of them are pupils in secondary and high schools and vocational centres. The most common violation is underage driving. Other violations include not using a helmet, driving in the wrong lane, and overtaking without signal.
The list was compiled by the Road – Railway Traffic Police Division and submitted to the Department of Education and Training.
The department has asked local schools and families to keep a close eye on pupils’ activities on the streets and use the list to evaluate behaviour for 2017-2018 school year. Pupils will be forced to submit self-criticism letters, while their parents will be made to pledge a commitment to deal with the problem which will be submitted to the department.
Pupils repeatedly violating traffic laws is an on-going problem in HCM City. Despite various measures to raise public awareness, the situation hasn’t improved.
