To have this e-textbook, in 2009 the Vietnam Education Publishing House combined with Korean partners to make the first tests of electronic textbooks. In 2012, this publisher developed Classbook, which contains the whole contents of the textbooks and reference books from the 1st to 12th grades.

With an 8″ multi-touch screen, Classbook brings reading experience similar to traditional textbooks. The anti-glare technology IPS (In Plane Switching) ensures wide viewing angle (up to 178 degrees) with true and natural color, not adversely affecting the user’s vision. Classbook has 8-10 hours of battery life.

During the time of use of this device, users can update for free every edition of all textbooks. Classbook also includes over 20 additional applications for many subjects, which are suitable to students of different ages.

Classbook also supports editing and content associated with the multimedia extensions for lessons and provide functionality that allows students to interact with lesson content.

For example, when reading English, students can look up the meaning of a word by touching the word on the screen. They can also touch the screen to listen to the pronunciation of a sentence, a paragraph, or even a lesson or record their own voice for comparison with native voice or watch video lectures.

With music subjects, students can listen to songs, watch performances or sing with background music, find out information about the musicians. Similar to other subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, History, Geography, Biology, Literature, students can explore the simulation experiments, photographs, maps, audio or video materials or listening to poems or stories, thereby learning lessons in more lively and interesting ways.

Especially, Classbook helps students self-assess their level of comprehension or self-test their understanding of lessons. The multiple-choice tests with automatic timer and scoring can help students to do exercises and then correct them. More importantly, the results will be recorded so that parents can track the progress of their children.

With the version for teachers, Classbook allows users to add references, books, lectures via memory sticks to serve the teaching process.

In the pilot phase, the product has been introduced to nearly 400 schools in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong and Da Nang.
