A performance of drum band “Da Da Da Dan Tenko” from Japan
This year, the annual Japan – Vietnam Cultural Exchange Festival will be held on Oct 6 in Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Cultural House to celebrate 40 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Starting at 9 a.m., the Japan Day 2013 includes several activities which highlight the culture and arts of Japan with the participation of both local and Japanese artists.
They are traditional drum performance featuring Japanese band “Da Da Da Dan Tenko”’s eight drum players; Japanese singing contest; demonstration of Yukata (a summer version of Kimono); Yosakoi dance; martial arts IAIDO, exhibition of Japan’s contemporary painting; and Cosplay Vietnam Cup contest.
Many Vietnamese singers, including Hong Hanh, Nguyen Vu and Chi Thien, will not only perform in the event’s music show, but also serve in the singing contest as juries.
The Japan Day is co-organized by the Japan General Consulate in the city, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the Japanese Business Association of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Youth Cultural House is located at 4 Pham Ngoc Thach Street, District 1.
