One of the paintings by Anna Borghi exhibited in Hanoi until July 14

The “Heavy Rain” painting exhibition by Italian artist Anna Borghi portraying Vietnamese street children is on display at Casa Italia in Hanoi from July 1-14.

The displayed artworks represent the 33-year-old painter’s dialogue between her, the children and the art they have created, according to a press release from the Casa Italia.

Anna Borghi graduated in 2004 with a degree in fine arts from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brer in Milan, where she earned an advanced degree in cultural heritage in 2010. She started to work with galleries in 2003 while still a student. She has won national awards in Italy and now her artwork can be found among noteworthy private international collections.

She started working with children in 2005. She moved to Vietnam in 2010, meeting students from the “Pho Cap” School for street children in HCMC. This school was opened in 2001 by three Vietnamese teachers with the support of local authorities to help disadvantaged children.

Since 2011 Borghi has been teaching art at the school. She instructs her students to embark on an inward journey, as well as to chase their dreams of producing masterpieces.

This experience sparked a massive change in Borghi’s life as she began to develop a strong bond between her art and that being produced by the schoolchildren.

Casa Italia is located at 18 Le Phung Hieu Street in Hanoi.
