Electronic Naps concerts will be held in Vietnam for the first time this month
“Let’s wander around the park, lean against a chair or lie down on grass, close our eyes and discover sounds and the world of music,” say organizers of “Sieste Électronique” (Electronic Naps), to be held in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this month.
The special program, developed at the Quai Branly Museum in Paris in 2011, aims to convey and enhance the value of “Sound Heritage” to a diverse audience.
The experimental event, a mixture of electronic music, experimental music as well as Vietnamese traditional music will give the audience a unique relaxing experience, courtesy local and visiting French artists.
Event organizers are L’Espace and the French Embassy.
Well-known among La Blogothèque netizens, Vincent Moon from France is famous for “take-away” concerts (video podcasts), an idea that has been implemented successfully by other people.
Laurent Jeanneau, another French artist, has been exploring and discovering the music of ethnic minority groups for more than 10 years. He mixes his recordings of such music with “electronic and acoustic elements.”
Jean Nipon is a musician who has created thousands of sound recordings including “8-bit with Teamtendo, breakcore with DJ Ai, Techno with Karat, more complex sound with Institubes and eclectic with Régine.
A graduate of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Vu Nhat Tan is Vietnam’s top experimental sound artist electronic musician. He has won many awards in Vietnam, Europe and Australia. Tan has performed with various sound artists and has played in Germany, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Bangkok and Singapore.
Nguyen Hong Giang from HCMC is a young musician who has, for the last four years, explored the buzzing sound of electronic music under the pseudonym of Writher. He has also participated in a “post-rock” project called Time Keeper. He releases an album every six months, and each of his compositions pose new challenges for contemporary aesthetics, organizers say.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Siestes Électroniques will take place 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on October 12 at Tao Dan Park, Truong Dinh Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1.
In Hanoi, the concert will be held at the Independence Park on Tran Nhan Tong Street and Le Duan Street from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
on October 19.
