HÀ NỘI — After its stunning success globally, the producers of Ghen Cô Vy, a viral handwashing song, have released an English version.
The music video of the English version Ghen Cô Vy was introduced on the YouTube channel of the National Institute of Occupational and Environment Health, Ministry of Health and the channels of singers Min, Erik and fashionista Châu Bùi.
The new version, which is performed by Min and Erik – two singers of its original Vietnamese version, updates new messages such as calling people to spread accurate information, fight fake news and maintain social distancing.
It now includes sign language to help hearing-impaired communities access its message.
Together with the release of the song is the launch of #EndCoV project with fashionista Châu Bùi as its ambassador.
With the spirit of “prevention is better than cure”, the project aims to join hands with the community in building personal preventative habits and to encourage frontline fighters – doctors, epidemiologists, health care workers and millions of frontline workers who are exposing themselves daily to the coronavirus.
“In this long war, each person being aware of the need to protect oneself, one’s family and community is very important. What we are doing is a drop in the ocean but we believe if united, all of us can do a lot more for the community. Above all, we hope that all of us will together practice personal and community preventative habits, spread positive energy and kindness, for a better world,” wrote Min on her Youtube channel.
Fashionista and influencer Châu Bùi also expressed her honour to become the ambassador of #EndCoV project on her personal page.
“COVID-19 is not a problem of any particular country. We the artists hope to be able to take advantage of our influence to help to promote the awareness of the community. Action together, we look forward to the future of #EndCoV worldwide!,” Châu wrote on her Facebook page.
Written with new lyrics based on the hit song Ghen (Jealousy), Ghen Cô Vy has become famous worldwide thanks to its catchy melody and positive meaning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The song has been mentioned in many popular shows such as Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, as well as appearing on BFMTV, France’s No.1 television channel and the Billboard music magazine. The original has close to 33 million views until now. — VNS
