Models Phuong Mai and Huu Long, winners of last year’s Vietnam Supermodel contest
The 2013 Elite Model Look Vietnam was launched nationwide last week for Vietnamese male and female contestants aged 18-25.
The contest replaced the annual Vietnam Supermodel Competition, which was launched in 2002.
According to the organizers, Cat Tien Sa Company and Vietnam Television channel (VTV), this year’s winners will receive more valuable prizes and opportunities to represent Vietnam at future international events.
In addition to the chance to represent Vietnam at the International Elite Model Look later this year, first prize for both male and female contestants is worth VND500 million (US$24,000) each, including a gold cup and VND200 million ($9,500) in cash; runner-up prizes, to be awarded to two female and male models each, are worth VND250 million ($12,500), including VND150 million ($7,500) in cash and a chance to join the 2013 Look of the Year or Asia Supermodel contests.
In addition to the age requirement, contestants must neither be married nor transsexual and have completed their high school education and have no criminal record. Female and male contestants must be at least 1.68 and 1.78 meters tall respectively.
Applications can be submitted at 5B Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Da Kao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City through September 3.

Elite Model Look was launched in 1983 and has since been held in more than 60 countries and territories worldwide.
