VietNamNet Bridge – The US-funded Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) has brought 467 Vietnamese postgraduates to study in the United States under its scholarship programme over the last ten years.

The figure was announced at a ceremony to mark the foundation’s 10-year operation held at Nha Trang University in central Khanh Hoa Province on June 15.

According to VEF’s Executive Director, Lynne McNamara, the Vietnamese research students were sent to 92 leading US universities.

Among 215 people graduated from US universities, 152 received PhD degrees and 63 got MA degrees. As many as 58 people returned to work in Vietnam after graduation.

All Vietnamese students chosen for the scholarship are considered capable of studying diligently and actively involving themselves in their new communities.

VEF is a US Congressional initiative run by the US Government. It aims to send an increasing number of Vietnamese postgraduate students to study in the US in order to enhance education exchanges between the two countries.
