Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on May 8 approved the establishment of
the National Council for Atomic Energy Development and Application.
The Council is responsible for advising the PM on the
orientations and strategies for atomic energy development and
application, figuring out prioritised areas in atomic science and
technology for each stage, and designing key policies in atomic energy
development and application.
The Council will also coordinate
the operations of ministries, agencies, Governmental bodies and
localities to develop and apply atomic energy, and realise nuclear power
development programmes.
It will cooperate with international
organisations and countries experienced in the field, organise surveys
and discussions, and collect comments from local and foreign experts on
important issues related to atomic energy development and application.
The council will work under the chair of the Minister of Science and Technology.-VNA
