Le Hong Son, director of the HCMC Department of Education and Training, answers questions at the HCMC council meeting on December 6

At the sixth session of the HCMC People’s Council on December 6, council members and residents wondered if the city would compile a new set of textbooks for its own use and when the new books would be put into use.

In reply, Son said the Ministry of Education and Training last year gave the city the green light to compile textbooks in accordance to its needs.

HCMC has good personnel and financial conditions, so the city has assigned the HCMC Department of Education and the Education Publishing House to jointly compile new textbooks, Son said.

The idea of developing separate textbooks for HCMC came up in 2014. Textbooks would be based on the curriculums adopted by the Ministry of Education and Training.
