VietNamNet Bridge – While diving to see corals at the Cham Island in Hoi An ancient city, Quang Nam province, a 62-year-old Korean woman suffered a heart attack and died on the way to the hospital.
Cu Lao Cham is an attractive destination for tourists thanks to wild ecosystem and beautiful beaches.
At 12.10am on July 30, an employee of a travel firm in Cua Dai, Hoi An reported to the Cua Dai border checkpoint that Mrs. Go Jae Suk, 62, Korean nationality, suffered from a stroke and fainted while diving to see coral at the island of Hon Dai, Cham Island.
Medical staff of this travel company quickly gave first aid to the tourist and took her to the clinic of Cham Island. The Korean woman was then transferred to Hoi An Hospital but she did not survive.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, deputy chairman of Hoi An City, said the tourist had a history of heart disease.
“Many people in her group advised her not to dive but she did not follow. Her relatives have performed procedures to take her body to her home country for burial,” Dung said.
