VietNamNet Bridge – This morning – July 31, three officials of the Dong Vong Coal Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Group (Vinacomin), died of asphyxia in a coal mine in Uong Bi district of Quang Ninh province.

They are identified as Mr. Tran Minh Thanh, Deputy Foreman, Mr. Hoang Minh Duong, safety supervisor and Mr. Bui Huy Thuc, a technical expert of Dong Vong Company.
At about 8am, when the three officers was going into the coal mine, they lost contact with the outsiders. The incident was immediately reported to the rescue team of the company.
Tens of rescue workers were mobilized to search and rescue the three officiers. After about two hours, rescuers accessed to the site and took the victims out of the pit.
Suffocation in coal mines usually occurs at the pits that are not ventilated or the pits with gas leaking.
The police agency of Quang Ninh Province have cooperated with relevant agencies to investigate the accident.
