Delegates from Southeast Asian countries and the European Union
participated in discussions on strengthening cooperation in migration
and development during a two-day conference in Jakarta that started on
August 29.
Over 60 delegates focused on such issues as
cooperation in migration and development in the Southeast Asian region
and EU, challenges during the resolution of migration; and the impacts
of migrant labour on development.
The conference also
highlighted the coordination among relevant parties in efforts to
protect the rights of migrant workers.
This event is part of a
series of three conferences held to promote discussion and information
sharing on various aspects of migration and development in Southeast
Asia and the EU.
The first event was held in the Philippines in December 2012. Vietnam will host the third event this December.-VNA
