The Thai Ministry of Justice has said the second phase of Safe Mekong
Joint Operation has been successful, as many drug dealers have been
arrested.
Representing Thailand, Justice Minister General
Paiboon Koomchaya attended the Safe Mekong conference held in Chiang
Mai between April 28 and 30.
High-ranking officials in charge of illegal drug control from Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and China participated in the event.
The
Safe Mekong Joint Operation was set up on January 12 and has since
made significant progress in eradicating drugs. The operation has proven
to be successful as many drug dealers were arrested from January 12 –
March 12.
General Paiboon said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha
had given his blessing to have the operation extended from May 11th –
September 11th.-VNA
