The National Defense and Security Council (NDSC) of Myanmar on July 3
adopted some resolutions regarding its government’s efforts in making
peace.

Delivering speech at Myanmar’s Union
Parliament’s 7th regular session which opened in Nay Pyi Taw on July 1,
Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House) U Shwe Mann said
the NDSC’s meeting took place along with the parliament’s meeting
session over the last two days.

NDSC discussed
activities of the Government’s Peace Making Committee, especially use of
local fund and assistance in the process of making peace, while
reviewing negative impacts that can damage people’s life and the
national security.

U Shwe Mann stressed that the
ending of armed conflicts to bring peace to the nation must go together
with the national law and conciliation.

He called for promulgating laws that are fair and that people can abide by.

The 11-member NDSC was formed in March 2011 with President U Thein Sein being its chairman.-VNA
