Myanmar President U Thein Sein met with visiting Indian Army chief
Gen. Bikram Singh in the capital city of Nay Pyi Taw on October 30.
At the meeting, host and guest held discussions on
the two countries’ bilateral cooperation, implementation of the
agreements signed during the latest visits of the Myanmar President
and Indian Prime Minister to each other’s country, as well as India ‘s
assistance to Myanmar’s human resources development.
They also touched upon cooperation between the two armed forces,
including India’s offering of scholarships to Myanmar officers, and
its assistance for Myanmar in modernising its armed forces.
Myanmar will help India crack down on Indian rebels in border
areas, and control border security. The two sides will sign an agreement
on cooperation in boundary affairs.
During his two-day visit
to Myanmar, Gen. Bikram Singh plans to tour a number of defence
establishments in the country.-VNA
