The donation, which was delivered last week, marked the initial co-operation between the college and KDBS in the development of Information Technology (IT) education and data skills among students in central Vietnam.

The Da Nang college is among the top centres in central Viet Nam developing IT manpower for businesses as they rev up for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).

Last year, the college inked an agreement on an Open Source Software human resource training programme with Japan’s Linux Professional Institute and Evolable Asia company.

The central city has 55 foreign direct investment projects in the IT sector, and these businesses earned US$67 million from software exports last year.

In 2015, FPT Software, a company of FPT Group, began the 10,000-Bridge Software Engineer programme in Japan as part of its human resource strategy in the 2014-18 periods, and a key project for boosting the Japanese IT market by 2020.

The city has restarted construction of the Da Nang IT park on 341ha with total investment of $278 million after a four-year delay.

The IT Park is expected to create revenue of $3 billion each year with 25,000 jobs and a satellite city of 100,000 people.

According to the latest report from the city’s information and technology office, more than 600 IT businesses are operating in Da Nang with 5,000 staff members.
