Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance
Keat Chhon has asked the Ministry of Commerce to strengthen the export
diversification as part of efforts to increase the country’s sustainable
economic growth.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of
the Ministry of Commerce’s annual meeting on March 20, Keat Chhon said
the ministry should continue to diversify exported products, mainly
agricultural products.
Meanwhile, Cham Prasidh, Senior
Minister and Minister of Commerce, stressed on the ministry’s efforts
and attention on export diversification, saying the export of
agricultural products is on the rise.
The Ministry of
Commerce reported that Cambodia enjoyed a trade balance of 13.4
billion USD in 2012, with export volume being 5.5 billion USD.
Major export lines are garment and textile, milled rice, rubber latex, fisheries, corn, bean, sesame, and pepper.-VNA
