BIS Hanoi Records Exceptional Achievement in 2017-2018 Academic Year

VietNamNet Bridge – The academic year 2017-2018 witnessed outstanding academic results from British International School Hanoi’s Class of 2018 with more than 70 acceptances from prestigious educational institutions worldwide.

The academic year 2017-2018 again witnessed outstanding academic results from BIS Hanoi’s Class of 2018 with more than 70 acceptances from prestigious educational institutions worldwide including Ivy League and Russell Group universities.

The US has been the most preferable destination after graduation with 48% of BIS Hanoi’s students making the decision to study there. Also in the dream destinations list this year were countries and territories with high world rankings in education such as Canada (21%), the UK (16%), Australia (5%), Switzerland (5%) and Hong Kong (5%). 

Each year, a growing number of universities worldwide give out financial rewards to attract talented students. Their impressive academic results as well as their active involvement in global-scale extracurricular activities has helped the BIS Hanoi graduating class of 2018 stand out during the university admissions process and obtain nearly $1 million in scholarships. 

Despite some attractive financial offers, many of BIS Hanoi’s students decided to attend their dream school programs instead, such as Ngoc Vi – BIS Hanoi Class of 2018 alumna who was accepted into 5 prestigious American educational institutions including Brown University, Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, Northwestern University and Colgate University. More remarkably, Duke and Colgate Universities awarded Vi scholarships valued at $69,000 & $63,000 respectively. Choosing Duke University over the prestigious Ivy League Brown University, Vi will be heading there in the fall to start her desired major of Environmental Sciences. 

The impressive academic accomplishments from the Class of 2018 was a reflection of the hard work of the 34 graduates and their teachers over the past few years of their exciting and challenging academic journey.

To celebrate the phenomenal achievement of the class of 2018, a solemn and emotional Graduation Ceremony was held at the Almaz Convention Center on 9th June, gathering more than 200 honored guests including the graduates’ families, teachers and friends.

Speaking at the event, BIS Hanoi Principal Ms Sue Hill shared her pride in the class of 2018’s success stories and sent special thanks to the students for being such confident role models and true ambassadors for BIS Hanoi. 

Mr Giles Lever – British Ambassador to Vietnam – also participated in the event, graciously handing out the diplomas and expressing his satisfaction of witnessing the growth and ever-increasing success of BIS Hanoi.
