Ruth’s exquisite songs which are full of longing and melody and her angelic, serene voice are expected to chill out the boiling hot midsummer weather in Vietnam.
Born in South Wales, Ruth started learning the harp at the age of seven. She began to play her own music independently while studying English Literature at Cambridge University. Her early recordings were sent to BBC Radio Wales’ Adam Walton, and acclaim led to an early BBC appearance at Glastonbury in 2008.
Following graduation in 2009, Williams chose to write and perform further works in hope of attracting greater attention to her material.
‘Week of Pines’, her debut album, was released in May 2013 and immediately received enthusiastic praise from critics, hailing the album for its “mixture of soft pop and reimagined traditionals”. It was commended by The Independent as “a dazzling debut, rich with sweet pain and joy” and she was named “one of the British folk discoverie.
The concert is set to open at 8pm at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1.
