Joining the gig are popular jazz-funk outfit Nga tu Mat dien and one of the capital’s top DJs GiGiMix.

SOIL “PIMP” SESSIONS combines class, cool sounds and attitude into a heady mix of jazz, fun and entertainment.

Starting out in Tokyo clubs in 2001, before long it was being championed by Giles Peterson who released six of the group’s seven albums on his Brownswood recordings label. Since 2005, the band has played at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, Glastonbury in the U.K, Fuji Rock in Japan and the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. They also appeared on Later…with Jools Holland, the U.K’s longest running and most respected live music TV program.

“We always felt that in the world of jazz, there was an unwritten rule that the musicians were to concentrate on their techniques and the audience was simply there to admire, like a transmitter receiver relationship. We wanted to break away from that and create exciting jazz with far more interaction between the players and the audience,” the band has been quoted saying.

Van Ho Exhibition Center is located at 2 Hoa Lu Street in Hanoi. Tickets are free and can be obtained from CAMA ATK at 73A Mai Hac De Street and at the Japan Foundation at 27 Quang Trung, Hoan Kiem now.
