VietNamNet Bridge – One of the most famous orchestras in the world – the Orchestre de Paris  – will have a performance at the HCM City Opera House on the evening of October 30.

In 1967, following the dissolution of the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire, conductor Charles Munch created a new orchestra in Paris – the Orchestre de Paris.

The Orchestre de Paris has been invited to perform at major music centers such as New York, London, Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam, the Nordic countries, Russia, China, Japan and South Korea.

During the autumn tour around Asia in 2013, more than 30 artists of the Orchestre de Paris will have a performance in be HCM City under the baton of conductor Paavo Järvi.

In the show, the orchestra will play the Symphony No. 83 in G minor “Hen” (Haydn), the Suite Holberg (Grieg), Roussel’s symphony, the version for flute and orchestra by Faure and the symphony No. 33 by Mozart.

The presence of Paavo Järvi and the Orchestre de Paris in Saigon is part of the “Year of France in Vietnam” program.

Paavo Järvi is the music director of the Orchestre de Paris since 2010. He is an Estonian-American conductor. Järvi was born in Tallinn, Estonia. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute.

From 1994 to 1997, Järvi was principal conductor of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. From 1995 to 1998, he shared the title of principal conductor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra with Sir Andrew Davis.

Järvi was music director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra from 2001 to 2011. The orchestra made a number of recordings for the Telarc label during Järvi’s tenure. In May 2011, he was named the orchestra’s Music Director Laureate. Since 2004, he has been the artistic director of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Bremen and an Artistic Advisor to the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.

In 2006, Järvi became the principal conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, now known as the HR-Sinfonieorchester. He is scheduled to conclude his tenure with the HR-Sinfonieorchester at the end of the 2013-2014 season. In 2010, he became music director of the Orchestre de Paris. In June 2012, the NHK Symphony Orchestra named Järvi its next chief conductor, as of the 2015-2016 season, with an initial contract of 3 years.

Järvi has recorded for the RCA label as well as Telarc, ECM, BIS and Virgin Records. His Virgin Classics recording of Sibelius Cantatas with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Estonian National Male Choir and Ellerhein Girls Choir won a Grammy Award for “Best Choral Performance.”
