VietNamNet Bridge – “The Birds” by sculptor Thai Nhat Minh will open at Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts from April 21 to 27, featuring more than 150 small sculptures made of wood and aluminum casting and inspired by the image of birds.
The sculptor combines the works with bamboo to create surrounded and narrowed space in a general layout.
The first space includes three square columns at a height of three meters and width of 45-50 centimeters, standing from the ground to the ceiling of the gallery.
The straight, solid, dashed bamboo sticks will be formed into bird cages. In this cramped space there are a lot of birds with different postures and moods, interlocking and overlapping together.
The second space is created by the bamboo sticks connected with others, bending into curves as arcs, and continuously occupy the entire second room which is about 80 square meters of space.
It symbolizes the orbit of the birds hovering in the space.
Using sculptures as an expression language, but using installations to impact directly on viewers, the sculptor lets audiences experience themselves in that space and sense their own perception.
Born in 1984, Thai Nhat Minh graduated from Hanoi Fine Arts University-Sculpture Department and earned an MBA from Hanoi Fine Arts University-Sculpture Department last year. He has joined group exhibitions in Hanoi and HCM City.
