The theatre company, with successful past productions of Romeo and Juliet, A Christmas Carol, Macbeth, and King Lear, is set to bring this classic fantasy to life in May this year.

The story, written by Jonathan Swift is about the journeys of Gulliver through different worlds also entangles the journeys and triumphs of imagination. The stage adaptation by Paul Stebbings and Phil Smith will draw on all four parts of the original story.

The two-hour production will have two acts performed by four actors Paula James, Jofre Alsina, Nick Whitely and Roberta Crocker. The four actors will play 16 characters in the production, employing comedy, acrobatics, stilts, and sharp dialogue to explore the story.

Targeting young audiences, Gulliver’s Travel will stop off at the Ha Noi Opera House on May 8, and then travel to HCM City for three shows on May 10 and 11. The play will be presented in English with Vietnamese subtitles.

Director Stebbings has updated his highly successful 1996 production to challenge the modern audiences. Before landing in Viet Nam, it will have been performed in 20 countries from Europe to Asia in eight months.
