VietNamNet Bridge – Photographer Patrick Creusere recorded unexpected things that he witnessed while visiting the famous Cu Chi tunnels in HCM City.
Located in the northwest of Saigon, the Cu Chi tunnels were built
during the French colonial period and expanded in the war against
America.
The entrances of this underground base are very small, so they were the big challenge for big American soldiers.
The guide (1m55 high – with the average height of the Cu Chi guerillas) set an example of how to get into a tunnel.
The vent pipe made of bamboo and disguised as a termite mound.
The cooking in the tunnel was conducted by a special kind of cooker, called Hoang Cam.
The model simulating the scene of Vietnamese Communist soldiers
handling an unexploded American bomb. The explosives and bomb shell were
used to make weapons and domestic utensils.
This iron globe will fall on anyone who activates the trap.
A spike-trap.
There is a shooting gallery in Cu Chi where visitors can test American guns that were used in the Vietnam war.
