VietNamNet Bridge – Young wrestler Vu Thi Hang took home the only silver medal for the 10 member Vietnam team at the 2013 Asian Freestyle and Classical Wrestling Championships that concluded on Monday, April 22, in New Delhi, India.

Hang overcame many stellar opponents from strong Asian teams such as Japan, China, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan to surge into the 48kg finals but lost decisively in a match with Park Yong Mi from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Both Hang and 2012 Olympian Nguyen Thi Lua, were Vietnam hopefuls for earning medals but Lua did not live up to expectations after an early loss in the quarterfinal match of the women’s 51 weight category.

Vietnamese male wrestlers were also unsuccessful with Ta Hong Tuan and Nguyen The Anh missing out on medals in the men’s 55kg and 60kg weight classes, respectively.
