The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre coordinated with the Vietnam
Institute for Building Science and Technology on March 1 began the
restoration of an observatory vestige at Hue ancient capital
complex.

The 11 billion VND (500,000 USD) project,
expected to be completed in July, 2014 is part of a programme to recover
relics in Hue Imperial Citadel that commenced in June, 2011.

The ancient observatory, called Dong Khuyet Dai, located in the East
of the Citadel. It was one of four observatories that served as an
observation and defence post during the Nguyen Dynasty. However, the
vestige deteriorated over time.-VNA
