VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam is sending a five-member team of stellar gymnasts to Slovenia for the 2013 FIG Art World Challenge Cup scheduled to take place in Lubljana on April 26-28.
Pham Phuoc Hung will compete on three apparatuses including ring.
The three-day event is the fourth competition of the 2013 World Cup and World Challenge Cup season, following the previous three tournaments in La Roche sur Yon (France) on March 16-17, Cottbus (Germany) on March 21-24, and Doha (Qatar) on March 27-29.
The Vietnam team members are: Phan Thi Ha Thanh (female), Pham Phuoc Hung, Dang Nam, Hoang Cuong, and Nguyen Tuan Dat.
The 2012 Olympian Pham Phuoc Hung has been absent from recent international competitions following an injury suffered earlier. Hung will compete on pommel horse, ring and parallel bars.
Top female gymnast Phan Thi Ha Thanh is a big hopeful to earn medals in the women’s vault, balance beam and freestyle events.
Nguyen Tuan Dat will compete in the men’s vault and freestyle, Hoang Cuong in the men’s vault, parallel bars and freestyle, and Dang Nam in the men’s pommel horse and ring disciplines.
Roughly 150 gymnasts from 19 countries and territories around the world including many strong teams such as Germany, England, France, Hungary, Slovakia and the US are expected to participate in the tournament.
