Vietnamese chess players sealed their imprint at 2013 Asian Youth Chess
Championships that took place in Sari city, Mazandaran, Iran, from June
19-27, as they walked away four golds, four silvers and seven bronzes,
ranking second.

The 18-member team won two rapid championship
titles on the first day of competition, with two gold medals going to
Le Tuan Minh in the boy’s U18 age group and Tran Tuan Minh in the boy’s
U16 category.

In the girls’ U6 age group, Nguyen Le Cam Hien
bagged a gold in the blitz event and silvers in both the rapid and
standard disciplines. Hien’s teammate Tran Tuan Minh took home another
gold in the boys’ U16 blitz.

India took the overall championship, bringing home 23 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze medals.

The championships drew the participation of over 270 chess players
from 15 Asian countries and territories including China, India,
Mongolia, Iran, Vietnam, and Macau (China), as well as Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines, Iraq, Syria, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan,
Tajikstan, and Uzbekistan.-VNA
