A special fashion show featuring the unique traditional clothing of
Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) wowed crowds in Hanoi
on September 8.
The event, the first of its kind
between the two nations, was attended by Vietnamese Vice President
Nguyen Thi Doan and RoK President Park Geun Hye, who is paying a State
visit to Vietnam .
The harmonious combination
between different versions of Vietnamese ao dai and Korean hanbok
greatly impressed onlookers.
The collection
“Royal dynasty” (Vuong trieu) by Vietnamese designer Si Hoang reflects
the solemnity and splendour of royal ao dais as well as the resilience
of the Vietnamese nation through vignettes of a phoenix and the sun on
the costumes.
Meanwhile, the hanboks on show varied
from simple daily dresses to sophisticated ceremonial ones, both aimed
at introducing the people of the RoK and their special culture to the
Vietnamese audience.
President Park Geun-hye said
that she hopes this year’s event will help sustain the close friendship
between the two nations and boost their future ties.-VNA
