The 11th National Poetry Day is taking place at the Temple of
Literature in Hanoi from Feb.22 – 24 under the theme Tuoi Tre Voi
To Quoc (Youth and Nation).
The central stage of the
annual festival, held on the first full-moon of the year, will be given
to young people to express their love to the motherland, poetry and to
the Vietnamese great poet – President Ho Chi Minh.
The
festivities began on the night of Feb.22 with presentations of poems by
students and poets from clubs throughout the country. The bests will be
selected for presentation on Poetry Day on Feb.24.
Besides
poetry presentations, there will be an exhibition showcasing images,
items and works related to writers to honour the 70 th anniversary of
the Cultural Movement for National Salvation.
The festival
also expects to greet American war veteran and poet Bruce Weigl, who
was a strong opponent of the American War in Vietnam and feels a
strong connection to Vietnamese literature.-VNA
