A photo exhibition opened in the former imperial city of Hue on Sept. 2, featuring its relic sites of the past and present.
The
event is part of the activities to mark the 68th anniversary of
Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day, the 20th anniversary of
the Hue relic complex as a world tangible heritage and 10 years since
the UNESCO recognised Hue Royal Court Music as an intangible heritage of
humankind.
On display are 34 posters and thousands of photos taken at Hue relic sites over the years.
The
exhibited photos describe important historic periods of Hue, ranging
from the successful August Revolution that ended the 143-year rule of
Nguyen Dynasty, the return of French colonialists to Indochina and US
imperialists’ intervention in Vietnam that made the ancient capital a
fierce battlefield to international efforts to help Hue relic sites
survive.
Visitors to the exhibition have an opportunity to look
back on Hue’s great achievements in preserving national cultural values.
On the day, the Hue Relic Conservation Centre offered free
entrance tickets to domestic visitors to all relic sites as a start of a
tourism promotion campaign that aims to attract more tourists to the
ancient capital city.-VNA
