The presence of the Danish legend in Hanoi yesterday, April 24, attracted great attention of football fans in Vietnam. For nearly a decade playing for MU, Peter Schmeichel owned a great collection of awards, includes five Premier League championships, three FA Cups and one Champions League Cup. Along with Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, Peter Schmeichel made the legendary golden generation of the MU.
In a meeting with the press and fans in Hanoi in the afternoon of April 24, former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel had frank and open talks within half an hour and impressed the audience by his friendliness.
At the beginning, Peter Schmeichel talked about the recent 20th championship of MU: “I am honored to be one of the MU club’s players. Recently, the team won the 20th Premier League championship. I think this is the successful generation of MU. Obviously, there are some things that the team needs improvement. The young players have showed incredible progress and with them, MU will play well in the next Champions League seasons. I am also optimistic about the future of the club.”
The Danish goalkeeper was surprised about the ardent fans of Vietnam for English football. In addition, over 26 million fans of the MU is a very impressive figure for Vietnam to be in the top countries with the world’s largest fanbase of the MU. Talking about this, Peter Schmeichel emphasized: “Vietnam and other Asian countries have an important role and the MU looks forward to continuing collaboration, creating special interests between the team and the fans. I hope that MU fans will have useful activities for the club and for Vietnam’s football.”

Peter Schmeichel also recalled his time with the MU.
