The UNESCO office in Vietnam, in conjunction with the Da Nang Museum
of Cham Sculpture, opened an exhibition on the World Heritage Sites of
Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in the central city of Da Nang on March 28.
The event also draws the participation of the
Angkor National Museum, Preah Vihear Eco-Global Museum, National
Museum of Cambodia, and Preah Norodom Sihanouk Museum of Cambodia; and
Vat Phou Site Museum of Laos.
Entitled “Our Common Heritage: Exploring World Heritage Sites of
Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam”, the exhibition features six world heritages
in Indochina, namely Angkor, Preah Vihear, Vat Phou, My Son, Thang Long
Citadel and Ho Citadel.
As many as 22 panels
highlighting images and writings on cultural heritage preservation
activities are also on display at the event.
As
part of the UNESCO/Japanese Funds-in-Trust project “Revitalising World
Heritage Site Museums for a Better Interpretation of Living Heritage
Sites in Cambodia , Laos and Vietnam”, the exhibition offers a
chance for local people and foreign tourists to explore world heritage
and the interconnection between the three countries, therefore raising
their awareness of the global values of these sites.
Earlier this month, a similar exhibition took place in central Thanh Hoa province.-VNA
