A bronze statue of Buddha Sakyamuni, the largest of its kind in
Southeast Asia, was unveiled on August 31 in the northern province of
Nam Dinh.
The 14.8m high statue, cast from 150 tonnes of

The Giant Buddha is of great significance to the Truc Lam Thien Truong Buddhist Pagoda, inaugurated on the same day.
The pagoda was built on an area of 4,840 square metres, at a cost of
49 billion VND(2.3 million USD), with the majority of 41 billion VND
