Representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of
Korea joined Vietnam-Korean families in Yongin city, Gyeonggi
province at the annual Cultural-Sport Exchange, organised on May 18 by
Yongin city’s Korean-Vietnam Friendship Exchange Association.
Opening the event, President of Yongin city’s Korean- Vietnam
Friendship Exchange Association Kwak Jae-woo said the gathering in May
has become a reunion of brothers and sisters of the same family.
The Mayor of Yongin city, Kim Hak-gyu, appreciated the activities of
the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Exchange Association in Yongin, where
there are about 400 Vietnamese-Korean families. He said the city has
established support centres for multi-cultural families, particularly
Vietnamese brides, which provide training in Korean language and culture
as well as vocational training.
The mayor asked the Vietnamese Embassy to help Yongin city in expanding ties with Vietnamese localities.
On his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Tran Trong Toan thanked
the association’s chairman for the organisation of such meaningful
exchange.
On the occasion, the Yongin mayor
presented Ambassador Toan and two other Vietnamese officials with badges
recognising their contributions to the cooperation between Yongin and
Vietnamese cities.
The organising board also presented gifts to Vietnam-RoK multicultural families.-VNA
