American-Vietnamese Mae Mua, who works for the British sports marketing firm Strata in Viet Nam, said a representative of AS Roma and Strata had signed an agreement in England last December.
She said following the agreement, the match would be held at Ha Noi’s My Dinh Stadium on June 2.
“Roma plan to play matches in China and Indonesia before flying to Ha Noi during the tour,” Mae Mua said.
“It will be the first time that AS Roma have played in Viet Nam and we hope to generate some excitement among fans.”
The Italian club will bring stars including Francesco Totti, Deniel De Rossi, Bosnian Miralem Pjianic, Pablo Daniel Osvaldo and Erik Manuel Lamela.
Mae Mua refused to unveil the team’s appearance fee for the friendly.
She said Strata has been co-operating with the Viet Nam Football Federation to organise the match in Ha Noi.
In 1996, a Juventus side featuring Gianluca Vialli and Attilio Lombardo overcame Viet Nam 2-1 at Ha Noi’s Hang Day Stadium.
