Vietnam and Canada have agreed to further links in economics,
trade, investment, science-technology and education-training, as well as
regional and international issues, in a more effective manner.

The agreement was reached during Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son’s visit to Canada from February 28 – March 1.

While meeting with Canadian leaders, including his counterparts Morris
Rosenberg and Peter Boehm, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Claude
Carriere, Chairman of the Canada – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary
Group and leaders of the Canadian International Development Agency, Son
stressed that Vietnam values the development of a comprehensive,
stable and long-term partnership with Canada .

He said he hopes the two countries will work closely together to
celebrate their 40 th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties,
especially the exchange of high-level delegations and hosting of
cultural, art and economic activities to strengthen mutual understanding
and promote diverse cooperation between the two countries, legislatures
and peoples.

Son expressed Vietnam ’s support to
Canada for bolstering ties with ASEAN member nations and the
Asia-Pacific region, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and
development in the region.

The diplomat suggested
the Canadian Government and Parliament create all possible favourable
conditions for the overseas Vietnamese community to integrate into the
host society while actively contributing to friendship and cooperation
between the two countries.

The Canadian side
pledged to promote the exchange of high-level delegations with Vietnam,
deepen bilateral political, economic and cultural links, maintain
dialogue to strengthen mutual understanding, and work together on
regional and international issues of mutual concern.-VNA
