VietNamNet Bridge – In the afternoon of April 18, the Vietnam Record Organizations awarded the certificate of national record to the authorities of Bac Lieu southern province for having the largest whale shark skin in Vietnam.
The largest whale skin of Vietnam is on display in the town of Ganh Hao.
The 9.7 m long whale skin was stuffed for display at the Mr. Nam Hai tomb in Hao Ganh town, Dong Hai district of Bac Lieu province. Before dying, the fish weighed about 13 tons, with waist circumference of more than 5m.
A year ago, Bac Lieu fishermen found the exhausted whale near the estuary of Ganh Hao. They pulled the fish ashore. After many hours of care, the authorities could not save the huge fish to release it back the natural environment as plan.
The Bac Lieu People’s Committee allowed Dong Hai district authorities to ask for the Nha Trang Oceanography Institute’s assistance to stuff the giant fish.
